Denise, my life partner, and I sat anxiously as we waited to watch the channel 9 news story about my journey and documentary. I was told it would be on channel 20 at 9pm and channel 9 at 10pm. The numbers kept juggling around in my mind. Was it channel 9 at 9pm? Was it channel 20 at 10pm? When Denise and I checked out the channel guide, channel 20 at 9pm was showing a religious show about Judaism. What a coincidence I thought. It reminded me of the quote, “ Coincidence is G-d’s way of staying anonymous.” Then we checked out what is the sister station to channel 9 and found it, and indeed it showed news at 9 for channel 5. Just more numbers to swirl around my head. Denise and I watched the entire 30-minute show and I was not shown. I began to doubt if I had the right day or time.
At 10pm we watched channel 9 news grasping each other’s sweaty hands as we nervously anticipated my spot. Suddenly the anchor mentioned my name and story. Immediately I called my two sisters to share in the moment. We were all so pleased at their expertise in editing down 3 hours of interviews to 2 and ½ minutes. We were also very satisfied in the light the showed me. I went to bed that night a lot calmer than I thought I would be. My tools of practicing “The Four Agreements” by Don Ruiz and mindfulness once again payed off.
Now I have the task of trying to figure out how to get my message of hope out to those who could use it. I am doing me best, the fourth agreement by Don Donruiz
