Yes! I want to receive up to date news from Jeff Zinn.

When I speak, I share my story and the Recovery tools that help me – and others – create a life of peace, joy and purpose

While in the throes of mental illness, I lost my family, friends, wealth and career. In the blink of an eye, I was transformed from millionaire executive in Manhattan’s garment district to being homeless and penniless.

In the midst of a full-blown manic state – my first psychotic episode – I was diagnosed with bipolar 1 disorder. Now equipped with the tools I’ve learned, I am on the path to Recovery. My new life does not feature a manic drive with an addiction to adrenaline rushes. And I am happier than ever.

I am living proof that Recovery is possible – when treatment and Recovery go hand-in-hand.
Traditionally, the mental health community’s approach to mental illness has been based on treatment only. And this was my experience. For 8 years – while in treatment – I was not even familiar with the concept of Recovery. A major turning point was discovering that Recovery tools enabled me to create a life of peace, joy and purpose.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA), Recovery results in a dramatic shift in positive outcomes in mental health treatment. While treatment is undeniably an important component, treatment is only part of the path to wellness. Equally important is Recovery. In my battle with mental illness, I’ve learned that treatment and Recovery go hand-in-hand.

I know this is true, because I have walked this path. And I know it is possible to recover from mental illness, as long as you have the willingness and are introduced to proven Recovery tools.

As a professional speaker who is certified in psychiatric rehabilitation, I share the Recovery tools I’ve learned with providers and others.
Today, as a Recovery Speaker & Facilitator, I share my proven set of Recovery tools with the providers who assist patients to achieve Recovery – and teach these tools directly to those suffering with mental illness. I don’t want anyone to struggle as I did before I emerged from the dark cave of my illness, before I was finally able to experience the peace, joy and purpose that each of us has a right to enjoy.
